Happy New Year!
I wanted to count down to the New Year accurately, and I knew that the satellite feed of Times Square was likely 10-20 seconds behind. Being a resourceful hacker, I programmed my own countdown timer in the few minutes before the ball dropped. And then I realized I forgot to ensure that my computer was atomically correct. Bah humbug.
